What does Whitley County need to do to improve in

2010?

What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Whitley will have some nice backfield kids coming back with some of the speed that they showed last year, along with their stud FB. The question will be the offensive front. They graduated their O line tackle to tackle, but have some quality kids ready to step in and play. Look for a few kids you have never heard to step up and play big roles. They were good and could have played in years past but had to play behind some of the best offensive lineman produced at WCHS. With that said, they also have to replace their QB who was a three year starter.

 

Whitley may have to rely on singular athletes this year to step up and make plays at keys times early but as they jell they could be a very dangerous team late in the season.

Who will be the QB. I think the one they were counting on transfered to Letcher Central. Dalton Sizemore.

I don't think they were counting on that kid at all. It seemed to be pretty much common knowledge that he was leaving. His father was never a fan of the option offense that Whitley runs, he wants his son in a passing offense which he will be at Letcher. He may wish he was at Whitley (where he could have started), because Letcher had a really effective and athletic QB last year who will be a JR this year.

 

To answer your question: I don't know, and I am not sure that anyone will know till the opening friday night of the season. Competition makes you better so it could get interesting.

Don't they open with Lex Cath?

Yes Lex Cath at home then Lynn Camp....then they go on a loooooonnnggg road triip to Belfry.

That is the way that you get your program to the top. A tough place to play in Belfry. I know that they come to Log Mountain some pretty tough road games early.

He is a very good Football Player, He will play at Letcher Central, may have to wait to play QB but he will be on feild.

Whitley County does the things they need to do to get better. They just hired Justin Bozeman from McCreary Central to the Fooball Staff , IMO one of the best Def. Coaches around.

I will give Jim Black credit, he has not dodged anyone, his first two years were brutal before he got things rolling but he never backed down from any challenge.

I thought Whitley was the best team other than Highlands that Pulaski played last year. They are always tough up front with backs that run down hill. i am sure they will be the same this year.

Yes Bozeman played at Cumberland. He has been an asst. at McCreary Central under 3 different Coaches and was Head Coach for a couple years himself. Bozeman is a very hard worker and a good Def. Coach. Great Addition to the Staff at Whitley Co.
