Williamstown 2010/2011

Featured Replies

What does Williamstown need to do to improve in 2010/2011? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Could be a good year for the Lady Demons Wilhoite(sp) and West hold just about every record there and have been playing together forever. Mark does an outstanding job with them.

They have been playing together forever, haven't they! Unfortunately for the Lady Demons, I think their success really depends on everybody else. You know what you get with Wilhoit. She's a double-double darn near every game. And West can definitely light it up from outside. The problem is she's either really hot, or really cold. But, even if Tori and Chelsea each put up 20 points a game, there's still a big hole in the offense. I looked back at this past year, and they were 7-2 when they scored 50+ points. That means they were 2-16 when they were under 50.

I believe they lost only 1 senior from last year's squad, so everybody else should have another year of experience under their belt. But, if they want to make some noise this year, Northcutt is going to have to step up and be a big presence down inside, and they'll need the Harris girl and Prokopchak (sp?) girl to continue to mature. Rothwell could be a big factor too, if she's able to take some of the ball handling duties away from West, and allow her to use some screens to set up some open 3's.

I believe Mark had some 8th and 9th graders see some varisty time last year as well. So, hopefully they'll benefit from that, and get some nice surprises this year with their contributions. But, right now I see Williamstown battling Grant County for the #3 seed, as both squads would appear to be well behind Walton and Simon-Kenton.

Northcutt/Prokopchak/Rothwell/Wilhoit and West have been playing on the same team this summer along with some other players from the 8th and 9th. Wilhoit and West have been solid as usual the other three have made huge leaps. Rothwell will be able to handle the ball this year and take a lot of that load from Wilhoit and West freeing them up more. Northcutt has improved on rebounding and post moves and has added the ability to knock down the 3 to her game. Prokopchak has matured and it seems to be starting to click with her how good she can be. I think Willamstown will be solid this year and the surprise team in the 8th.

With only one senior graduating. I look for WT to develop some of their young girls and compete a little more than last year. Depth will be one of their major problems, which is the norm at most small schools.
