Final from Maysville.

Royals jumped out to an early 3-1 lead but couldn't hold the 22nd-ranked Cards, who scored 2 in the 6th and 3 in the 7th to break open a close game.

The Cards have done this some this year. Game is close and then they take care of business and put the game away. Good road win for the Cards.

???? to the bolded. According to the paper, game was put away after the 3rd inning.

According to the paper today:

Clark trailed 3-1 after the first inning, but rebounded and put the game away with a four-run outburst in the third inning. Josh Webb highlighted the inning with a double that plated two runs.

Game was 5-3 after three innings. I don't know what the newspaper's definition of "put away" is. I probably wouldn't call a 2-run lead with 4 innings to play "put away", but maybe that's just me.

This to me was misleading, as if the Cards didn't go ahead till the 6th or 7th inning. No mention of the 4 scores in the 3rd inning for the Cards.

You didn't mention that the score was 5-3 after 3 innings in favor of the Cards in your first post. That is why I posted that particular section of the article. As far as the "put away" I am not a baseball person, so I have no clue.
