Bowling Green has won all the close ones against Greenwood lately, but even so, I bet Coach Sherrill sees green jerseys in his sleep. Every single game between these two teams is close. Bowling Green has won five straight in the series by a combined 12 points.

 

Chane Behanan was the only Purple who came to play for most of the night, with 17 in the first half, and finishing with 27 on the night and I think 18 boards. But at the end it was DJ Ray who got a clutch rebound off his own miss to put it back in with 3 seconds left while drawing a foul. That put them up 43-42 and the additional free throw made the final margin.

 

There will be controversy about the ending. Greenwood tried the play where you draw the charge on the man guarding the inbounds, figuring that was their best shot. They put their best free throw shooter as the screen, and Behanan leveled him while running the baseline. Some would argue you can't call that. I think I've landed on both sides of the issue, and I really don't know the answer. On the one hand, it's a smart play and a foul is supposed to be a foul. On the other hand, it is sooooo very cheap. It is almost never called, and I was not surprised in the least they didn't call it here.

Call me crazy if you want, but I feel Russell Co is the biggest threat to knock off Warren Central this year, instead of Bowling Green.
