Pulaski County 65 Somerset 58 (OT)

Featured Replies

Pulaski makes it 3 in a row over SHS and moves on to the 47th District Final on Friday. The Freshmen played outstanding tonight. Kody Johnson led the Maroons with 17 points, Taylor Gover had 16.

Congrats to Pulaski. At least we'll get to start spring football practice sooner this way. With Casey County's upset of Rock the 47th will send 2 teams to the 12th Region with losing records--this has to be one of, if not the weakest district in the state this season.

47th was way down this year! 3 of the 4 teams in it are "football" schools though. I am sooo ready for spring football. Just need some warmer weather.

Men, Spring Practice will be here soon enough. Let's enjoy this post season run for the Maroons. Good luck on Friday and in the 12th Region Tournament.

I love football, i truly do, but this is the very reason SHS will never have a successful basketball program. It is clear what most of the people surrounding the programs think about. I don't anyone in the BB program would have said that had the FB team lost early. It is attitudes like this one that pervents number 11 in the winter from dressing in the fall.

It was a rough season for SHS and the best thing that can be said about it is that its over, I was trying to find a silver lining to a bad, bad season. The only bright side is that spring football can get started now and get completed before baseball season really gets going. My son doesn't play basketball but he does play the other two and it will make it easier on him. I'm not glad that the basketball team got put out in the first round, I like the kids on the team and hope they do well.

As for why the team had a bad season, the only thing that the football program has to do with that is the fact that it delayed some of the players from getting to start basketball practice. I know that Coach Lucas doesn't try to prevent his football players from playing. My son made a decision not to play this season and hit the weights harder. Coach made it a point to tell both him and me that if he wanted to play basketball that he was fine with that and that he could get his work in during the work class. Never has anyone on the coaching staff told him not to play basketball or baseball.

As for number 11, he's a heck of a basketball player and a great kid as well. You should be very proud of him. I think he'd also make a heck of a football player and would be an asset to the team. I understand why he plays basketball only, especially after seeing how much he travels and plays in the summer. He'll be a nice player at the next level if he keeps working hard. I'd love to see him come out and play football, he could definately help out but after sitting out the last couple of seasons we're okay without him as last season shows--we don't need anyone that doesn't want to be out there and isn't committed to the team.
