Scott 43 Covington Catholic 35 (Frosh, OT)

Exciting game but honestly not played very well by either team for the first three quarters.

If I had the book in front of me, I would guess neither team hit 20% from the floor and Scott missed so many F/T that I am sure they will be shooting them a lot at the next practice.

In the fourth quarter both teams came to life with CovCath scoring 18 and Scott scoring 16 to end the fourth quarter tied 35/35. A third quarter score of 19/17 or 20/17 (Scott) isn't what either coach is looking for or use to.

Don't know if both team understood the importance of this game and just froze or both teams "D" took it's toll on either "O" but speaking as a CovCath fan, CovCath couldn't hit the barn, much less an open barn door in the first three quarters.

The OT started off with a jump ball and the CovCath center won the tip but he tipped it to a spot that no one was at and even though a CovCath player tried to save it, his foot was on the line and thus the ball was out of bounds! It was Scott ball and since no one had gained possession of the ball, the arrow was directed to CovCath.

This play was my only complaint of the entire game and it wasn't directed at the men in stripes but directed toward the Scott Coach! He screamed at the young man who was running the clock, claiming the young man shouldn't be moving the sign one way or the other! The young man wasn't doing that at all, what the young man was doing, was putting the sign in his hand so that he could point it, whichever way the men in stripes wanted him to. It didn't matter which was it was pointing, as it was a jump ball, so the young man was just waiting for the men in stripes to tell him which way to point the arrow! Honestly, if the young man who was doing a great job running the clock (I have seen adults do much, much worse) had gotten up and walked out of the gym, I wouldn't have blamed him. Coach it's a frosh game, the men in stripes get paid, you get paid, but the people who work the table volunteer, and you owe the young man an apology!

CovCath came out in a zone and Scott played it smart and just held the ball forcing CovCath to go man to man. Scott finally, after moving the ball around the perimeter, got the shot they were looking for and made it and got a +1 to go up three and that was it, as CovCath failed to score the rest of the game.

BTW I might be wrong on the exact scores but.......it was tied at the end of regulation 35/35 and Scott (Kenton) won and CovCath didn't score in OT.

#23 for Scott is Nick Jackson. He is a very nice player who has improved his game immensely.

Sounds like a great game to watch.

The coach needs to take a step back and re-evaluate his approach. If he has a problem he needs to get with the officials.

The Scott coach (Fromeyer) said "No!! No!! No!! the possession arrow doesn't go to them". Thats all. You act as if he publicly berated and humiliated the kid. Far from the truth. The referee's got together and made the right call. Coach Fro. didn't like it, but it was the right call. Loudest person in the gym all night was the CovCath coach screaming at the officials and his players.

# 23 for Scott is Nick Jackson. He is the best post player playing at the Freshman level that I have seen all year. # 3 for CovCath is small but very good. The young man has a very nice looking shot.

CovCath has nice size and plays a very physical style basketball. They probably gave Scott the toughest full court pressure that Scott has faced this year.

Its gonna be a fun tournament. Good luck to CovCath the rest of the way.

Loudest person in the gym all night was the CovCath coach screaming at the officials and his players.

I agree with your comments and indeed wish Scott the best for the rest of their season also, however I don't agree with the action of the Scott Coach towards the timer!

His comment was directed at the timer and not at the stripes when he yelled it. The young man was not making the call, just waiting for the call to be made! All the young man did was to be ready to move the sign one way or the other at the discretion of the stripes!
