Within a few seconds of the game a Newport player was injured as he was attempting to block a shot. The player was transported to the hospital on a back board. The player is going to be fine according to a Newport representative.

 

The game itself was a well played game by both teams in the first half. Newport's #23 had a couple of 3's and handled the ball fairly good. NewCath's #10 did a good job getting the ball around the floor. The second half was all NewCath. NewCath went on a run as the second half started and never looked back. Newport IMO came out slow and never got moving. IMO Newport began to play as individuals. Newport will be a better team once they realize if they play as a team they can accomplish more.

I hear the Breds have moved Michael Beuter up to JV. This probably loosens up a guard heavy class. Devoto,Dupont,Pangallo,Siebert all solid guards. How did the Breds bugman Nate Grosser play? He is going to be a stud.

Pangallo did not play which I was surprised about that one. I'm not sure which one Grosser was so I can't give any details on him. NewCath has a good team but not as quick as you would expect them to be. Newport has a quick group but for some reason they stopped playing together in the second half. IMO one of Newport's biggest problems is the discipline factor. IMO you either fix the problem or get rid of it.
