threetimelover Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 What does Trimble County need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

ColonelMike Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 As an old-time 8th region guy, I'd like to see some of the "lost" powers recall and reclaim their old tradition... Trimble County was one of the first powers in KY high school girls basketball. The current superintendent of schools, Marcia Dunaway - formerly Marcia Haney - was one of many star players to play in Bedford. Ditto for some other region 8 schools... Oldham County dominated region 8 like no team has dominated a region before or since from 1976 - the early 90s. They won state in 1986, were runners-up in 1988, and final four in 1980. But the Lady Colonels haven't won a region title in well over a decade while experiencing a revolving door at the coaching position... Henry County was coached by one of the region's forgotten greats, Paula Martin, in the late 70s, when they were a perennial contender for the region... Current coach Todd Gilley is one of the stars in the 8th Region coaching ranks... Sometimes I think the players need a little bit of a history lesson...they need to learn and embrace the tradition and what it means to wear the uniform. Tradition doesn't score points or grab rebounds...but it can change the attitude of the person possessing an understanding of it... Best of luck to the Lady Raiders!
