DragonFire Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Warren Central has to live up to their talent to improve in 09/10. They had the most talented team in the region last year, and I still feel that they had the best team. They had a couple of things go wrong, most notably that their leading scorer and PG pretty much quit on them in the regional quarterfinals. That particular player won't be an issue this next year as he's moved on, which may end up being addition by subtraction. Central replaces three seniors, two of which started, but they will be a more veteran team than they've been since 2007. For a time it seemed like every year Warren Central was experienced, but they lost only two seniors in 2008, and the aforementioned three seniors in 2009, painting a picture of a team that was very young. Only Winn and Lightfoot from the '09 class were significant losses, and there are players very much willing to step up. This season the Dragons will have seven seniors, all of which have seen significant time. None of those are their bellcow players, George Fant and Jordan Shanklin, who are just entering their junior seasons. The starting lineup should probably feature Fant, Shanklin, Jacob King (three point marksman), Troy Halcomb (top defender and solid player - very much improved), and then possibly Shamarcus Wells (very athletic) or Denzel Carpenter (ditto). The Dragons may have some issues early on as several of those are football players, but that depends on the success of the football team in the playoffs.
