North Hardin 41 Bardstown 33

North Hardin led 41-18 at one point before Bardstown made it interesting at the end

Too many early mistakes for Bardstown to overcome. Both teams struggled tremendously with penalties. There must have been 30-35 flags thrown total.

Bardstown's biggest struggle was defending the pass against North's bigger receivers. North QB Vincent Davis and WR Trevino Coney connected for (I think) four TD passes.

Bardstown couldn't get on track until they fell behind 28-0. Ricky Harper's big-play ability helped the Tigers keep pace in the second half, but the deficit was too big to overcome.

I had my numbers way off on Coney's TD catches. He did have a huge game, though, with about 150 yards receiving.

Did NH start subbing then?

This game went much like Bardstown's opener last year to Woodford County. Fell way behind, mounted furious comeback that falls short.

Bardstown starts at least 5 freshmen and sophomores on defense.

They relaxed at the end to make it look closer than it really was. But had Bardstown not had two early INTs, it may have been a different game. That put them a step behind early and NH did a good job of piling on. B'town also had an early KO return for a TD (Harper) called back, and I think after the setbacks it took them a while to figure out they could play with NH.
