The Scribe Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 The Marshals take a 1-0 lead. The series is being played at Graves County. Incredibly, Marshall County has never played in a state baseball tournament. Henderson last went in 2000.
westsider Posted June 2, 2009 Posted June 2, 2009 Marshall led 4-0 after two innings. Starter Cory Forsythe, who threw 12 innings in the regional tournament and seven on Thursday, began to tire and Henderson cut the lead to 4-3 in the fifth. Reliever Kody Charlton pitched out of a jam in the sixth and again in the seventh, striking out Henderson's best hitter with the tying run on third and one out and getting the cleanup hitter to hit one back to the mound for the final out. Marshall's pitching depth will be tested in the next few days. If the series goes to a third game, I don't know how much Forsythe will have left after throwing 115+ pitches in the first game.
