Clay County 2009/2010

Featured Replies

What does Clay County need to do to improve in 2009/2010? What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

Clay should have a great team next year! Clay really needs to work on their guard play to be extremely successful next year.

Clay and Coach Burchell always finds a way to have younger kids step up and play big. With Jackson back in the middle and nearly the entire roster back, they will be loaded again. In the postseason, until they lost to Ohio County by 3 in the state tourney, they only had 2 close games in district & region play (58-48 over NL in district title game & 60-51 win over Middlesboro in the region semifinals). The other teams in the region lost some of the better players last year (North Laurel lost Jackson, Jackson Co lost Tyra, Middlesboro lost Coleman, South Laurel lost Justice, Whitley lost Jones, etc).

Clay will be the odds on favorite to go back to the state tourney yet again. If they don't I would be more than a little bit surprised.

I would not count out Harlan Co,they also return everyone.

Harlan County isn't one of the top teams? They beat South Laurel twice and Middlesboro once. They were also the regional runner-up. They didn't lose any starters.

Clay will be ranked first and Harlan County will probably be ranked second.

If I remember correctly Clay Co easily handled Harlan Co.

What does that have to do with anything? Clay is the favorite.

Harlan County should be in the mix.

O yeah I agree, Harlan will be in the mix. But Clay is by far the favorite!
