Somerset 4 Paul Laurence Dunbar 2

Featured Replies

Final from Somerset. Dunbar hit what would have been a game tying 2 run homer in the top of the 7th with 2 out but the runner did not touch home plate and was called out on appeal. Stephen Alexander gets the win on the mound for Somerset who improves to 16-5 on the season.

How on Earth do you not touch home plate??

A little bit of showboating. He skipped in from 3rd base. He missed it by quite a bit. I'd say he's experiencing a long bus ride home right now. At least it is a regular season non-district game so he can learn from it.

So he just stepped over it ?

Any idea who it was?

I'm a Somerset parent but my son is a freshman so I'd say if I thought it was a bad call but he clearly missed it. I don't know his name and I really wouldn't want to put it on here if I did. He messed up and I'm sure he's learned from it. Dunbar has a fine team and it is a shame that the game had to end on a technicality.

If he was showboating he deserved it, skipping in from third is a joke.

One of the Dunbar coaches saw it as well and actually told the runner to go back and touch home but by that time the batter had already reached and touched the plate.
