Conner 8 Ryle 3

This seems to be the trend with Ryle baseball... not playing to their full potential and losing games by errors. Wasn't this the problem last year? I have been able to watch quite a few of their games this year and I'm less than impressed. Juniors and Seniors in high school should know their fundamentals by now. You can argue they are playing ranked teams and better teams in NKY, but it seems right now it doesn't take much to be a better team than Ryle. What do they have to do to be a contender in NKY?

They are two years off a state appearance. Last season was a diappointment to be sure, but they have been very competitive against an exceptionally strong schedule this year. Errors haven't really been their undoing this year. Every team makes occasional errors and Ryle is no different. Their middle infield, OF play, and C has been strong. Their pitching has been solid. It's their hitting that has been the issue and the lack of it tends to magnify every fielding and pitching mistake. At the end of the day, they still have a great chance to win their district and advance the region and I would still certainly consider them a "contender" in NKY.

Conner vs. Boone County next Tuesday is going to be a fascinating game to decide the top spot in the district and all but assure the winner a place at regionals. Tough game to predict right now, but I think I might give a slight edge to Conner due to a deeper pitching staff, playing at home, and the return of Shuttlesworth.

The #1 Seed would get a bye and #2 Seed would play Heritage..... That would leave Ryle vs Cooper in the other bracket.

Not unless they've changed it. The way you have it, you end up with 3 teams after the first round (#1 seed, winner#2/#5, and winner of #3/#4), which isn't really practicable.

In past years, the #4 and #5 teams (last year it was Heritage and St. H, with St. H winning) have a "play-in" game and the winner takes on the #1 seed in one semi-final bracket (last year it was St. H and Conner, with St. H winning) and the #2 and #3 seeds play in the other semi-final bracket.
