April 25, 200917 yr The Red Sox take game 1 of the Yankees series at home 5-4. Jason Bay hit a 2 run homer off of Mariano Rivera in the bottom of the 9th to tie it and Kevin Youkilis hit a walk off in the bottom of the 11th off of Marte for the Red Sox 8th straight win. Jon Lester started and went 6 innings allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 7 in his second strong start in a row. Papelbon and Ramon Ramirez pitched scoreless innings in the 10th and 11th to set up Youk's heroics. Ramirez, who has proven to be a great pickup gets the win in relief. Bay with a HUGE hit to tie it. I wonder if Wireman still thinks that Bay/Manny trade was a horrible trade for the Red Sox????? Huge win. I was trying to follow it on my phone last night at the Reds game, but to no avail.

My son had a game in a wooden bat tourney but I got back in time to catch the last 4 innings on MLB.com. I bought a month's worth of games and I've really liked it so far--the video quality is excellent. I'll probably upgrade to a full season--if you get the premium package you can watch NESN each game whether at home or on the road.

April 26, 200917 yr Author The Red Sox trailed 6-0 after 3 1/2 innings but came back to defeat the Yankees for the 2nd straight day 16-11 for their 9th straight win. Mike Lowell had a homer and 6 RBIs, Ellsbury homered as well and Jason Varitek hit a grand slam for the Sox. They go for the series sweep tomorrow night on ESPN Sunday night baseball.

April 27, 200917 yr Author The Red Sox get the brooms out and sweep the Yankees tonight 4-1. Justin Masterson went 5 1/3 innings of 1 run ball while striking out 4. Big Papi continues to warm up with 2 RBIs. Jacoby Ellsbury scores 2 runs, steals 2 bases (including a straight steal of home) and Boston rookie pitchers Hunter Jones and Michael Bowden give the bullpen 2 2/3 innings of scoreless relief before Saito closes the door for his 2nd save. The Red Sox just embarassed the Yankees this weekend. On Friday Jason Bay hits a 2 run, 2 out homer off of Rivera to tie it before Youk hits a walk off to end it. Saturday the Sox spotted the Yankees a 6-0 lead before pounding their pitching for 16 runs in a 16-11 in and tonight 3 young Red Sox pitchers go 8 innings of 1 run ball against veteran Andy Pettitte who allowed a straight steal of home. 10 in a row for the Red Sox.
