After getting beat by 10 runs on Monday, Harlan Co. about pulls off a big recovery. They fell just short. I was told by a local umpire that HC got a little heated at the end of the game. Any details from anyone that was there?

The bases were loaded in the bottom of the 7th inning, with 2 outs. The batter hit a line shot that hit the runner at 3rd base. It APPEARED that the runner was in still in foul territory when struck by the ball (after being struck he fell in to fair territory). The HP umpire called the runner out. A controversial ending to say the least.

Wow. That sounds wild. Just wondering though, how can a runner on the third base line get him by a line drive in foul territory and fall back in to fair territory? I'm just trying to picture it.

 

 

Anyway, I hadn't exactly how they ended the game. I just heard one of the HC players went crazy on an umpire after the game and then on his own coach. This true?

Granted, he should not have been close enough to the foul line for it to be even close. The runner that was called out did create a scene with the umpire and coach. I believe this player has been dismissed from the team.......

Well that's good. Coach Lewis did the right thing then.

Who pitched for HC? I know M'boro pitched like their number 4 or 5 man. I knew going in it would probably be a close game, M'boro needs to start hitting as a team and start playing better defense.

Maybe he has learned a lesson from all this, umpires are going to miss calls and you just have to deal with it.
