CCH goes 14-1 that year and wins state. BW gets knocked out by Pikeville. CCH opens this game with a TD drive and only puts up 3 more the entire game. Danny Ruh was stopped 3 times inside the 5 yd line in the second quarter of that game and they ended up with a FG. Andy Best from Beechwood connected with Steve Vickers for a TD reception in the 3rd quarter to win this game. The CCH team was stacked with Paul Hladen, just to name one.

I wasnt at the game but I can tell you Beechwood had a loaded squad. Lou Broeckhoeft was a great receiver, Jeff Leftin was a fantastic multi-purpose back who could catch and run the football. I believe Dave Brossart anchored their line. Andy Best was a very heady QB. Beechwood had a strong SR class that year.

Beechwood would have more state titles than they do now if a certain coach was there in the late 80's to 1990.
