The 4th region

Featured Replies

Not many topics for the 4th region... So I thought I'd start one.

I'd say Warren Central is the front runner with Bowling Green close behind.

There is no doubt in my mind though that the rest of the region is licking their chops to get draw one of the 15th district teams at Diddle. Allen County's struggled and Barren County shocked the 4th region by just being there.

Any other 4th regioners out there like to chime in?

I've thought for a while that it was WCHS and BG, and I believe the Purples are the only team that can beat Central. Glasgow was another team I might have put in that category, but they blew it with that loss tonight.

Right now Barren County (with an assumed loss to AC/S) will be the plum draw at region. I wouldn't want to play the loser of the 14th or the 16th if I was one of the other teams. But really, the more you see, the more it is clear that the 14th District teams have separated from the pack a little.

I'm pulling heavily for Greenwood on Thursday, as they're a team that really gives Bowling Green trouble. If they win that one, I really don't know that Central will be stopped.

That has seemed to be the case for pretty much the last 8 years. Even with no Warren Central at Diddle last year it was still an all 14th district final. I figured Glasgow could spoil some dreams this year... But so much for that. Personally I just don't see the 16th district making much noise, even though Clinton beat Russellville earlier. Allen County could be a great team if they'd just keep their cool and not play stupid ball. They have a 6'9 Center and a Forward that can jump out of the building. Not to mention the quality of the 3 point shooters on the team.

Yeah, I constantly have to remind people on other sites that if you remove Warren Central from the equation, the 14th District would still have won regional titles in many years. The 14th District had both teams in the finals in 2003, 2005, 2007, and 2008. After a little swoon in the late 90s from 98-01, the 14th District has dominated the region year in and year out. And it's getting worse in a lot of ways.

The 4th is very similar to the 5th Region/17th District in that regard.
