Ninth Region Tournament Pairings

Featured Replies

Does anyone which districts will be matched up in the Ninth Region Tournament? :idunno:

I know that a winner from a district plays a runner-up from another district...

Most regions draw after districts.

Usually the Sunday after the district finals.

Both are correct. Most regions do decide their pairings on the Sunday before the regional but some may do it as early as the Friday of districts....of course this would all depend on when all the regionals would be completed.

I have been to many regional draws on the years and have seen them conducted in virtually the same way. The only thing that would difference is the order of the draw. Some regions draw numerically while others do it alphabetically. An example draw would be as followed (I will use the 9th Region just as the example region):

[imagine an eight team bracket with the slots being numbered 1 through 8 from top to bottom]

District 33 winner draws slot 3

District 34 winner draws slot 5

District 35 winner draws slot 7

District 36 winner draws slot 1

THEN it would look like this because the teams from the same district can only meet in the regional finals:

District 36 Runner-up and District 33 Runner-up could ONLY draw from slots 2 & 4

District 34 Runner-up and District 35 Runner-up could ONLY draw from slots 6 & 8

So based on this, what are some potential team matchups (projected teams)?

There is nothing to base off of. I said that was an example of how a draw could go. Once again, the regional draws will not be decided until after the districts are over.

I'll be at the draw and post the results.
