ColonelMike Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Game decided in OT. North came out of the gate really sluggish, and Shelby took a 35-29 lead into the halftime locker room. North had 13 first half turnovers and shot just 33.3% overall and 26.7% (4 of 15) beyond the arc. Only attempted 6 first half FTs as they settled for long bombs. Shelby was led in the first half - and overall - by a phenomenal performance from Boomer Beckley, who hit 12 of 13 shots and 2 for 2 at the line for 28 points. North found the range in the second half, and they needed it! Shelby eventually pulled out to a 10 point lead when North began chipping away. Mustangs hit 14 of 27 in the 3Q and 4Q, including 4 of 13 threes and 4 of 6 FTs. Alex Foley (5 threes, including 2 from NBA range+) and Tyler St. Julien led the way for North in the second half. Game tied, 66-all at the end of regulation. Unlike Tuesday, when the Mustangs' FT shooting deserted them late and led to a come-from-ahead loss to Anderson County, NOHS hit their freebies in the OT period, going 7 for 10, led by St. Julien's 5 of 6. After halftime, NOHS shot 48% from the field, 40% from beyond the arc, and 75% at the line... Game was intense and fun to watch for the fans, but sloppy at times. Both teams had (unofficially) 21 turnovers. Shelby led by as much as 10; North by as much as 6 in the close battle. The win ties the overall series at 3 games apiece.
