Entertaining ballgame. Storm led 28 to 7 in first half, Lone Oak ties it up by halftime. The second half was a defensive show. Lone Oak leads 31 to 28 with 7 minutes to go and the Storm put together a drive and a TD and hold on as Lone Oak had 2 more possessions; both coming up short.

Hopkins Central led 28-7 after one quarter, thanks to two blocked punts and an interception return for a touchdown. One of the blocked punts set up a 17-yard drive ... the other was recovered in the end zone.

 

Lone Oak scored two touchdowns in the last 20 seconds of the first half ... a TD pass, an onside kick and a hail-mary at the gun.

This one is a shocker thought Lone Oak would win this one.

It shouldn't be a shocker ... a lot of us in the west saw this district as a pretty entertaining three-team race. Hopkins Central hosts Calloway County in two weeks, and a Calloway win would cause a three-way tie for the district title.

Looks like a three-way tie will favor Calloway in the tiebreaker. Of course, first the Lakers have to beat Hop Central to force the tie. If so, an additional CC win over either Mayfield or Graves would give them the necessary schedule strength points to get the top seed. It is a good district, despite what others might think.
