Nicholas County 25 West Carter 20

Final

First off, sloppy....SLOPPY game. Congrats to Nicholas, they are a very physical football team, that earned a tough victory. The turning point in the game had to be the controversial fumble on Ace Puckett's pass attempt. I felt his arm was going forward and that a pass had been attempted, but the refs felt otherwise, and without being able to review the play, so nothing can be overturned. Didn't cost West the game, there were many chances for them to score but West Carter has to be allowed to get into some sort of offensive rhythm in order to win games. On the plus side for the Comets, the pass protection was better tonight. Freshman Cody Stamper had a nice game hauling in two touchdown catches, the last one was amazing for a 14 year old kid to be able to make in double coverage on a varsity field. He only played like 5 plays though, GET HIM IN THE GAME. Him and Owens would be a good set of recievers for Puckett to throw to. West Carter played hard, but just couldn't seal the deal, it only gets tougher though for the Comets as Russell comes to town next week. Congrats to Nicholas on the win, and best of luck to both teams.
