Monroe Co. 49 Taylor Co. 18

:thumb:Good game by the Falcons... The score was 15-6 at halftime and ballooned to 49-12 by the end of the third qtr. IMO Monroe did a good job containing Taylor Co.'s two playmakers Leonard Macon and Chris Thomas. The Falcons defense looked very well, but needs to work on not giving up the big play... As for the offense, the second half was a clinic. I really enjoyed seeing the balance in the offense. The passing game could use a little work, but all in all I think Monroe played aggressive and disciplined, not bad for the first game of the season...

Did something happen to Macon with about three minutes to go? Was he hurt? Why did he go to the lockerroom with three minutes to go?

I noticed him icing his ribs…

This certainly is a surprise. Many in Class 3A - District 5 were touting Taylor County as a trendy pick for district champion. Of course its early, but ouch. Taylor was the home team, too, right?

Also, I've seen predictions saying Glasgow and Green County will be good and Metcalfe County always seem to have nice teams. Can Monroe County come from the back of the pack to win this district?

I can't imagine the Falcons not playing a home playoff game this year, take that for what it's worth. It's clear to me this team isn't going to have a problem proving what they're capable of...

Good for you guys. I know last year was quite disappointing for Monroe County. In the past your name usually meant good football and its nice to see the Falcons having some more success.

Don't lose your mind just yet. They beat Taylor Co. No disrespect, but Taylor is not the caliber of opponent that the Falcons will face in their own district. Green Co., Glasgow, and Metcalfe Co. are very battle tested opponents that will cause problems to most programs throughout the state. With that being said, I expected Monroe Co. to be much improved but to go from 0-5 versus district opponents to winning the district is quite far-fetched at this point and time.

First off, no one's losing their mind.

Second, no one said anything about winning the district, just that I feel they will get a home playoff game (first and second seeds get home playoff game).

Third, Monroe wasn't 0-5 against district opponents last year...

*How far fetched was it in '05 when Green Co. went 1-9 for them to think they could go 11-1 two years later?

* Metcalfe went 3-7 in '04 to 11-2 in '05?

That’s the way it works for most small schools, feast or famine if you will.
