For those that don't know, Steel Panther is a comedic glam metal band from Los Angeles, California, mostly known for their profane and humorous lyrics, as well as their exaggerated on-stage personae that parody the stereotypical 1980s "glam metal" lifestyle. Lead singer Ralph Michael Saenz (born May 17, 1965), better known by the stage name Michael Starr, has a PhD in English Literature from the University of California, Berkeley (1991), and was briefly an assistant professor of literature and cultural studies, at Texas A&M Commerce.
