Proverbs 11 might be a good place to start for us regular posters in P & R.

12 A man who lacks judgment derides his neighbor,

but a man of understanding holds his tongue.

Staying in Proverbs 11

22 Like a gold ring in a pig's snout

is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.

This would be a great one for female teenagers to commit to memory.

If you have ever been suspended from BGP and was upset about it, this might hurt to read.

Proverbs 12

1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge,

but he who hates correction is stupid.

Proverbs 12

15 The way of a fool seems right to him,

but a wise man listens to advice.

Proverbs 14

12 There is a way that seems right to a man,

but in the end it leads to death.

I think evolution falls right square here. It sure seems right but it ain't.

One I am very, very bad at and wish I was better at.

Proverbs 15

1 A gentle answer turns away wrath,

but a harsh word stirs up anger.

Interesting one that might indicate that God might not be listening to those He deems as wicked.....

Proverbs 15

Proverbs 17 might be a good thing to think of before some of us post...

28 Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent,

and discerning if he holds his tongue.

Of course, Guru wouldn't be making the big bucks then would he?

Have to say that the Lord favored me here. I just hope that as I help my wife go through the next few days of burying and remembering her grandmother, I can be a favor to her.

Proverbs 18

22 He who finds a wife finds what is good

and receives favor from the LORD.

I guess that is why I can't sleep at 2:30 in the AM. Praying that I can help her get through today's burial.

'nuff said on the second part of this one.

Proverbs 19

13 A foolish son is his father's ruin,

and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.

In another P & R thread, there was discussion on drinking. Here is a proverb about it.

Proverbs 20

Wine is a mocker and beer is a brawler

whoever is led astray by them is not wise

I think too many times, today's Christians are living this proverb out.

Proverbs 21

13 If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor

he too will cry out and not be answered.
