Tournament is at North Laurel High School.

The 13th region is getting stronger. North is ranked #2 right now, South Laurel is getting votes and was in the top #25 most of the season, Corbin and Middlesboro are also getting votes. Should be a very interesting tournament.

Thanks for the credit brother. The best thing that happened during the meeting was the fact the coaches/AD's voted down the normal 75 dollar entry fee the district champs and district runner-ups had to pay during past 13th regional tournaments.

That is good news. That is only $600, but the idea means a lot. North Laurel will be plenty crowded with the softball and baseball regionals being held within 25' of each other.

Neither basketball region tourneys (ever charge an entry fee) and I don't think it's fair to the softball teams. If you can't afford to host a region tournament, then don't host it.

I would hope not, but I am glad they took this action. Durham has been a very good AD for North Laurel.

This could have been a big title 9 issue if the girls coaches would have pushed it. Maybe the Rev Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson would have gotten involved as well. I can not believe any school would host a regional tournament and then charge each team to play in the event. Congrats to Coach Jimmy Durham for standing up and setting things straight. Good luck to the Lady Hounds under the direction of Chris...The Hitman...Hart. I like their chances in the first round, but the semi's might be more than they can handle.

At Corbin, Coach Hart has done a great job. He is building the Corbin program the right way. They upgraded their schedule and will continue to build. Very nice guy as well!

Coach Hart has done a very good job and is a really nice guy, but ex-coach Gary Akins deserves a lot of credit for the job he did in building the program before he he was unceremoniously let go................although North Laurel did benefit from it.

Great point. Can't forget the time and effort Gary put in as well! Didn't mean to slight him at all!
