20ROOK Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 What is wrong with Carroll Co's Softball? 2 wins in 2 years. Do any of the basketball players play softball?
transplant Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Carroll Co is extremely young. They have been for the past few years. For some reason, as the girls get older, they don't play. They seem to have to rebuild every other year without graduating many seniors from their team. Coach Boles in my opinion is doing the things that it takes to get their team on the right track, it will just take a few years for these young girls to mature and develop the winning mentality

Why not? Didn't a few of them play last year, then quit for some reason?
transplant Posted April 26, 2008 Posted April 26, 2008 I think that Ballinger started to play and may have made it through the first couple of weeks of games until Western found out and asked her not to play. If I am right, she was doing it just for fun.

Lunatic1 Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Latasha Hunter (freshman) is a varsity basketball player and she also plays Softball. None of the other Varsity BB girls play. Most of them never have. Ballinger and Henderson did start out last year but neither had played and did not stick with it. Coach Boles is really working with the girls but it has not produced the results they want yet. If the current girls stick with it they will be pretty good in the next 2 years. I know they are working hard.
NoOffSeason Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 Feeder system not strong as most of our programs are feeling that. Girls hoops has the most active feeder program and you can see the positive impact. varsity coaches have to stimulate and work the feeder system(s)! Little league still plating slow pitch. Girls get older and priorities change.

Are there any 12u, 14u, 16u, or 18u summer teams from Carroll Co? I know Dennis Hawkins had a 12u team last year that were pretty good.
Lunatic1 Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 How long has Boles been there? I believe this is his second year as Head Coach, He may have only been assistant Coach last year..but has been involved with the program for 2 years. He is a very dedicated Coach and has a daughter that is on the team. I am hopeful that he will see good results. As far as our feeder system, It is the Varsity program..we have many 6th 7th and 8th graders working with the Varsity. Other than that there is not a lot of playing options.
20ROOK Posted May 15, 2008 Author Posted May 15, 2008 It seems Carroll Co is like a lot of schools. They have a lot of good athletes that seem to lose interest in softball when they get into high school, or some that wait until their in high school to start playing. Hopeully the young players will stick with it.
