Mikkah Rogers, 13th Region Player of the Year

Featured Replies

The coaches of the 13th region have decided that Corbin's Mikkah Rogers was the 13th regions best player this past year.

Congrats to Mikkah and wish her well as she plays for Georgetown College.

I have also heard that Lauren Wombles will be playing for Cumberland. Is there any truth to this? If so, congrats to her as well.

You need to check your sources,Lauren has already recieved the award.

Coaches selected this award...you need to check your sources.

I think you are both talking correctly about two different awards....The Wombles girl must have won the KABC, presented at the State Tourney...or coaches regional player of the year....apparently Rogers won the Times- Tribune or maybe the SEKC player of the year or maybe the 13th region coaches association.......both are fine players, so either is deserving. I guess what I am sayin is that their are more than one organization declaring a Player of the Year.

Mikkah won the coaches, SEKC, and another region award can't remember.

Lauren won the Times Tribune, and some other award.

Both are deserving.

When LES read this he will fill us in on all the details.

Mikkah won the 13th Region Coaches Player of the Year award.

Lauren won the KABC 13th Region Player of the Year award and also received the honor of getting the chance to try-out for the Kentucky All Stars.

I always thought the 13th Region Coaches Player of the Year award gets a tryout with the Kentucky All Stars, but haven't heard anything yet about Mikkah.

No one has been given the Times-Tribune Player of the Year award yet. That won't be released until after Spring Break.

Walt Allen won in 2005 and '06, while Ty Proffitt won in 2007.

Taran Johnson won in 2005, Heather Clouse in 2006, Lauren Wombles in 2007.

Boys players up for the award this year are: (in no order) - Madison Johnson, Isaac Wilson, Darick Knuckles, Cody Miller, Jacob Scalf, Cody Messer, , Josh Seidel, Jordan Bortnem and Matt St. John.

Girls players up for the award are: Callie Mills, Mikkah Rogers, Caitie Jackson, Lauren Wombles, Jessica Dean, Amanda Brimm and Holly Jones.

Looks like a good bunch of players, boys and girls. Hard to believe you have two Corbin players listed for the boys and neither has Crawford for a last name though. Congrats to Ms. Rogers for her selection.

Congratulations to Mikkah, great player good luck at Georgetown.

I don't know what the difference is but I looked up some info from the local and state newspapers:kentuckybasketballcoaches.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=83&Itemid=103 - 29k

Lauren was also named 13th region player of the year and was presented an award at the state tourney. She was invited and played in the East/West allstars after the state tourney. The player from each region that was voted #1 and #2 was invited to play. Jimision from Middleboro was 2nd in votes but did not show up to play. Lauren was named MVP of the East allstars scoring 15 pts and 10 rebounds.

Lauren was invited and will play in Ky/Ohio Allstar game at Thomas More College in Northern Ky on April 11th and 12th.

She was also invited to try out for the Ky/Indiana Allstar team on April 18th and 19th at Georgetown college. To get an automative invite you had to be the KABC 13th Region POY.

Hound82 do you know if Mikkah is invited to any of the allstar games. I would love to go and watch Lauren and Mikkah play together instead of against each other. I think they would make great teammates.

I asked earlier this week and Lauren has definitley not made a decision. I know that Belmont in Nashville came and watched her softball game last week and talked to Lauren and her family, but want her for basketball. Also cntacted by Bucknell. I believe both are Div. 1 schools.

Her Dad told me several coaches were talking to her including Georgtown, NKU, Kentucky Weslyn, Union, LMU, Midway, Transy, Thomas More, Indianapolis,Bellermine and of course Cumberland. There were several more but, I can't remember them all.

I think she will be a great asset to any team. Great player and kid.

She has been invited to play a couple of all-star games. I can tell you though I don't think she will be playing in any of them due to softball. I know LW plays softball, but I think mikkah is going to reject all the offers. She has already singed with a team and she feels that she doesn't need to participate.

I would love to see LW and mikkah play together for at least one game. Those 2 players would represent this region well.

Hound82 do you know which allstar games she was invited to attend beacause she is not on the invite list for KY/OH or KY/IN allstar list. I know that they are by invite only.

It looks like both lists have alot of big time players who have already signed with some Division 1 schools, but will play anyway. I believe its a honor to be invited and a player should go if invited.
