February 27, 200818 yr Would you like me to post one of the many other articles one can find discussing the benefits of NAFTA? Bottom line is with NAFTA, there have been winners and losers in the US and thus you will find a cornucopia of articles that either praise or attack NAFTA. I agree. Specifically with NAFTA there have been plenty of problems, but how many have stemmed from the legislation rather than the actual trade? There are a plethora of statistics available citing job increases from any number of free trade agreements. Certainly, manufacturing jobs are the most vulnerable, and have suffered the most thus far, but many other areas have seen increases. The general argument is that the free trade trims the fat in certain sectors while building up in more competitive sectors. The raising of tariffs would result in higher prices for goods, less competitive companies with less competitive jobs, and a world strengthening without us.
