Mid-Season Report Card in NKY

Featured Replies

Ok, most teams are approaching the halfway point in their season and entering conference games here in NKY. Here is how I graded out the teams in NKY's top 10.

Holmes- A+ - only loss was to a very strong Male team and that was on the road. The sophomores are coming into their own and Henderson is the best defender in the state. Should win their district.

Highlands- A- only two losses on the year and some solid wins. Big wins over Dixie/CCH/NCC and some other reputable out of town teams. I expect them to continue to get better and hope Simpson can get back healthy very soon.

Boone Co- A- sophomores are stepping up and playing very well and McFarland and Krohman are a good one-two punch as far as leadership. Very strong so far and just handled CCH without question.

Cov Cath- A - very big wins over state ranked teams and shouldnt be graded too low by recent losses this week. Tough week for everyone over in Park Hills and injury to their glue "BondicK" :D is really effecting their offensive approach. I still expect them to advance to 9th Regiion tourney with Holmes.

NCC- B Only because they have shown they can win against formidable competition but also can not show up in games they should win. Very good shooting team with kids that will play hard for their coach. They should be runnerup in district and maybe knock someone off early in 9th region tourney.

Holy Cross- B- They have had a greuling schedule so far and against some formideable opponents downstate. Goetz will have them ready by end of season to take on a tough district. Sorrell is the best scorer in the area and Giwa is very quick and athletic. I dont expect them to advance to 9th tourney but having a nice year so far.

Ryle- C They had very high expectations coming into the season to contend but have lost their cool in games and havent been able to get over the hump. If they can get it together by end of year they might stand a chance because they have some nice young talent and Maly is a player. They will need to mature a great deal though.

St. Henry- B- They are doing as well as you can ask of a Dave Faust team who really doesnt have any stars. He is a great coach who will have them competing and possibly playing the Cinderella story come District Time.

Newport- C Even though they knocked off NCC convincingly they have lost to some patsys as well. Great athletes who can play ball but need to get more experience in big games and learn how to win.

Do they know what is wrong with Simpson and how long he will be out for.

I am sure I am missing some things on here as well, that is why I am hoping others can give me their own opinions.
