All HS baseball players and parents. Be sure to check out the "Baseball Camps" thread, in the "College Recruiting" forum, for updated camp lists. There are a few coming up just before the season starts. Some are very affordable.

Do you think that if a player picks 2 or 3 colleges that he has the greatest interest, that going to a camp early is a good way for the player to get to know the school and the coaches get to know the player? I also heard that schools like U of K will communicate sometimes with other schools about a player if they like the player and may not have a spot for him? For instance, several other smaller colleges like Georgetown, Transylvania, and Berea were at the winter camp at U of K.

Without question, attending camps a colleges will help the staff become more familiar, with a players ability and him with the staff/campus. I would recommend a player not limit to 2-3 or even all of one Division. Attend several for the instructional purposes, even if not planning to attend. Some will surprise and others, will disappoint.

Many solid DII and NAIA programs exist, for a player to only assume attending a D1.

At UK, Cohen and staff invite in many other colleges, to also help promote, as they realize not everyone is UK/SEC caliber. I've attended many UK camps and seen from 28± different colleges in attendance.
