Whitley County 49 Corbin 46

Featured Replies

Whitley survives Corbin in a game which saw the Lady Colonels get an 11 point lead in the second half but squandered it with bad shots. Corbin to their credit kept coming back but Whitley helped the Corbin cause by missing free throws, lay ups and just generally not playing very well. The most disappointing thing was the less than sportsmanlike play from Corbin, which at times was border line dirty, in particuliar a charge call on 24 who threw a fore arm to the chest of a Whitley player and a foul at the end of the game in which the Corbin player pushed to the ground a Lady Colonel. This coupled with the Corbin girl kicking a Whitey girl when they played at Corbin is very disappointing from a fans standpoint. In any event it was a hard played game and one which saw Corbin more than likely fall to third in the district seeding.

The call on the Rogers girl was flat out pathetic. The ref's were awful for both sides but that call took the cake. If your not going to make the right call don't make a call at all. Congrats to Whitley but, in the future both teams need to lobby for a better crew.

Corbin needs to learn that if mikkah doesn't touch the ball then they will not win the ball game. Mikkah needs to learn that when she does get the ball to take it too the hole. There isnt too many players in the region that can guard her one on one if there is any.

Jennifer Parsons needs to learn that when Mikkah runs the point the team is alot better. The Champlin girl is a good player but, not a point guard. She would do alot better being the 2.

I couldn't agree more about Champlin. She is a fine player and a couple of years ago when I realized that she was going to inherit the point position, I thought what a shame that she would have to play a position that wouldn't be the best fit for her talents.

I would agree that there were a LARGE number of bad calls during this game but I for one was not surprised. The officiating in the 13th both boys and girls is not what the kids deserve. The sad thing is that one person thinks you should get bad calls when you are the visitor because his team is going to get bad calls when they go on the road. I don't think that should be the way it is, it should be a fairly called game regardless.

As for the call on Rogers, I honestly could not see the play but she was out of control and trying to draw the foul intiating the contact as she went out of my field of vision. Corbin did not do a very good job setting up the last play and it appeared it was just helter skelter. But in all honesty they let both teams play too physical, in fact I used to like girls basketball better because you actually saw basketball not shoving matches, but now it looks like girls ball is going the way of boys basketball. If she did charge I would have been surprised they called and if it was a block I would have been surpised they called it, as I don't think the refs had the inclination to settle the game. I give Corbin credit, they came back from a double diget deficite twice and made it a great game.

She was pushed all the way to the basket which made her out of control. The play was to let mikkah take it to the hole. She did that the whole second have and Whitley couldn't stop it.

Apex I agree with you 100% on girls basketball. 13th region Officials are a joke and it will contine to be a joke until someone makes a stand against them. The biggest rivalry in the 13th region girls has to be Corbin/Whitley and they send possibly the 3 worst ref's down there.

I dont even know why we have ref's if they are going to let these girls have a backyard brawl. It's Pathetic!

You probably right in that she may have been pushed but she was also out of control. IF she was being pushed it wasn't any different from the other stuff that had been going on from both sides the whole game. The refs can't change the way the call it in the last ten seconds. That is why I made the statement about how bad the officiating is in the 13th. In that respect if they refs had called it better the whole game who knows how it may have turned out. I saw refs from several other regions over the break and the differnce was amazing. To fair to the kids on both sides is all I would llike to see.
