For the second year in a role Coach Mofield of Meade co. got overlooked for coach of the year in the 2nd district 6A. His greenwave team has won the district 2 years in a role. The Greenwave had their 2nd best season in school history winning district, and region, and having beaten Male, Woodford, Owensboro, and Nelson twice. I just don't know how it can be given to the Nelson coach when Mofield was above and beyond the most successful coach in dis.2.On a better note, Congrads to JL Cannady for being named player of the year.:confused:

2 years ago, Nelson County was 0-10, fired their popular head coach amidst an atrocious administration, had awful internal fighting, had a discombobulated junior football program, was not fielding teams with many players because they were choosing "other things" over football, and had a crumbling facilities infrastructure.

 

Bart Bruner has transformed the program. The record is not what Meade's was, but Nelson had 75 guys out for football, team morale is very high, a peace has been made with the administration, the junior program is rockin', and the quality of the football has returned. The record is not yet where he wants it to be, but they are a dangerous team.

 

Sometimes coach of the year is not about performance but about overcoming adversity. Bruner deserves the award, Mofield deserves the award, we county schools are still in this thing together.

And no disrespect intended toward Coach Mofield, but his team was coming off a great season last year and Meade was expected to be similarly successful this year.
