SuperB Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Final... Huge early season matchup in the 8th.
Lunatic1 Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 I am surprised at this one. I really thought SO would be the stronger team this year. Any details on the game? Both are great teams.
SuperB Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 ^ I don't have any details other to say that Dunbar must be scary good by handling Shelby by 30 earlier in the week.
I'm Out Posted December 3, 2007 Posted December 3, 2007 This was somewhat suprising to me. Last year in their first meeting Shelby won 50 - 48. SO has everyone back and Shelby lost 2 or 3 starters. I expected Shelby to be down this year. :jump:
crazy8s Posted December 4, 2007 Posted December 4, 2007 Just now getting caught up with everything. Garrity was a monster both in scoring and on the boards. Gray didn't play as well as she usually does but managed to step up her game and the end of the 3rd quarter and beginning of the 4th quarter when they needed her to. Credit Zimmerman for putting a close defender on Jones finally in the 4th quarter but she was still able to knock some down. Reynolds was able to hit shots off the bench and played a nice game for South. That was a plus! Eventhough South played poorly- too many turnovers, defensive lapses, and they didn't shoot the ball well either- they were still in the game and made it close. It was win-able, they just didn't get the job done. Kind of their MO- especially in the big games. Shelby Co. will be tought to beat throughout the Region- they are well coached and Gray is an amazing point guard.

However, I have to say that CC's Amber Girdy was a good match for her. It was really great to watch. They battled all evening long. Shelby will be tough to beat, and I bet SO steps it up and is a force by the time districts come around.
