Sharing the Gyms

Featured Replies

Where do the younger AAU teams in your area practice and play their games? Does the school system allow them to use school facilities? Churches in the area? Is it free or do they have to pay a rental fee?

Kenton cnty. allows AAU coaches to practice at their facilities during the week. They also host weekend games at their elem. and middle schools.

Boone county on the otherhand will not make their gyms available on the weekends, using the excuse that Sunday is a day of rest. There have been attempts in the past to approach the school board, but to no success.

Kenton Cty schools use to let AAU play their games at the schools but since SOAS has taken it over and for practice it is getting harder to find gym time since the schools have started a 4th and 5th grade league.

I know of a few counties that share their gyms, for practice and games. I know that Jefferson co. charges for the use of their gyms. Some churches will let these teams use their facilities.
