#3 You make the call

Featured Replies

Score: Red 75 Blue 73

Time: 00:02 seconds

Red 1 dribbling at the center line trying to waste the clock, so instead of waiting to get fouled by Blue 1, Red 1 throws the ball over is head up in the air and as the horn expires, the ball just so happens to go into Blue's basket? Oh no, what do we got?

Basket count for blue, 2 pts or 3 pts, overtime or not? would hate to be in this situation.

I would think it would be a 3 point basket for the Blue team. Game over Blue wins 76-75.

2 pt basket - tie game - overtime.

cshs81 is correct on this one. Since you can't score a 3 pt basket unless you shoot the ball behind YOUR OWN three point line, the other team gets 2 pts. and you would have overtime.

I meant to put in this scenario, after the horn sounds the basket goes in. Would this change the call any??

Because a last second shot is not over when the horn sounds if it's in the air, but can you have a shot attempt if it's not at your own basket? So I'm thinking that the basket would not count if the horn goes off first, because it's not a shot attempt. What do you think?

Agreed. The ball became dead when the horn sounded. IF the ball did not go through the opponents basket before the horn, it does not count. If this were a try at the correct basket, it would have counted.
