OK, observation #1: LCA's special teams will probably get a lot of attention this next week. We had a guy field 2 punts "Willie Mays" style: over the shoulder, going backwards. Not the recommended method. The first time it worked out OK, but the second time it was downed at the 1 yard line.

Another punt returner fielded the ball at the 3 yard line (WHAT was he thinking?). At least one of those miscues led to CAL points, maybe both.

Then there was the 99-yard kickoff return. In all fairness, #40 for CAL was VERY good.

The upshot of all of this is that our special teams need work!!

Don't worry, Sparks will put all the kick offs in the endzone. And we don't punt. Should solve all your problems.:D

Hayden had 19 carries for 160 yds.

Lucas Witt had 49 yds. on ~10 carries.

That's all I heard on the radio on the drive home.

P.S. If you watch tomorrow's game on TV (WKU) Dominique's brother, Tyrell Hayden will the starting running back for WKU.

Great night for the kids and Thanks for the heads up on the WKU w/ Hayden on t.v.:thumb: :thumb:

You guys are brutal...!

Bluto...........would you expect anything else? :D

It is nice to be rivals on the field and be able to still respect one another and cut up off the field. Good luck to the Eagles (only you could have a better nickname/mascot than that :sssh: :D ) in all of your games except for the one/ones that you play Raceland.

I was told that LCA's qb has got big and strong.

Yes, he has. And this brings me to my second observation: I saw Witt being chased around quite a bit (& not just on screen passes or rollouts). I am sure that the coach will have the O-line working extra hard in developing pass protection for him.

On the bright side of that, Witt did an excellent job of scrambling. When necessary, he would accept the tackle he was about to receive in order to deliver the pass - he was willing to "take the hit" in order to get-r-done.

LCA's defense is much better than I expected. Most of the losses from graduating seniors was on the defensive side of the ball, and I didn't expect those shoes to be filled so quickly. They are not perfect, but they did a very good job last night. I saw a lot of CAL's passes being "rejected" with authority! :thumb:

Now, back to my birthday nap....:D
