MountainThunder
Kentucky lost in the semifinals to Ohio 10-4. They were in it until the final inning, trailing 2-1, 4-3, and 5-4 before Ohio was able to get some insurance runs. They had a very good tournament and ended up finishing 5th. 2 of their 3 losses came to Michigan (won the championship this morning) and Ohio (runner up). Michigan heads off the World Series next week in Portland, Oregon. The girls did very well and realize that they can compete at a very high level outside of the state! They were sad, but by the afternoon on Thursday, realized that they had accomplished a lot and have a little more confidence in themselves. The pitching was much better when you get to that level and there was only 1 really high scoring game (16-15) in the entire tournament. Most were very low scoring. The entire tournament was played on grass infields, nice bermuda grass, but not something our girls were accustomed to. Michigan plays nearly all their games on grass and you could tell they were more comfortable, especially in playing the slaps and bunts. Congrats girls on a job well done. You represented yourself, your community and your state very well. I will post a team picture shortly.
