thewaterboy
If a student athlete leaves a Fayette County Public School (which district they live in) and transfers to a private school, lets say Lexington Catholic or Lexington Christian, and then after their freshman year of private school decides to go back to their public school is that student athlete automatically elgible for athletics their sophmore year? This one confuses me because at no time is there a bonifide change in residence????
Claude Henry Smmoott
With no change of residence, I believe they would be ineligible for a year had they played varsity athletics at the school.

This one confuses me because at no time is there a bonifide change in residence???? Public vs private has no bearing in this issue if we're simply talking about the transfer rule. Did he play varsity at the last school? Did he have a bonafide change of residence? Those are the deciding factors (usually).
thewaterboy
Student athlete played varsity athletics but had no bonafide change in residence, I figured that athlete would be ruled inelgible the year following the change in school.
bballfan44
What is the athlete played varsity sports at a Fayette Co school, moved to a new Fayette Co high school district, but then decided to enroll at Lexington Catholic instead of the new high school. Are they eligible to play immediately?

IF the residence issue is not handled, he/she would be ineligible by the written word. Are you saying that did not happen?

Are they eligible to play immediately? I would assume so unless they were renting in the new district and still owned their previous home (see Mike Mitchell case).
