I've seen Weis throw better but he was hampered with a "top of the knee to bottom of the knee" strike zone. Russell's pitcher had to deal with that zone as well but his hitters were more patient keeping the Ryle infielders up on the grass for their entire 5 run 4th inning. Ryle hitters were a bit overzealous.

Layne got to throw an inning and Sebald threw 2 innings and both looked good.

You know that little league "one inning kills you" senario. We finally had one.

Funny how the strike zone is suspose to be from a certain point on a batter to another certain point on the batter and the plate is exctaly the same size all over the state, however after stating that, isn't it funny how often the strike zone is called differently by the men in Blue, at each and every game......

 

No problem with it, "if" and that is the big "if", they call it the same against both teams and throughout the game.....

Good win for Russell in this one. One note about the umpire and the strike zone. Imo if it is the same on both sides then it is o.k., all umps have their own strike zone and teams/hitters/pitchers just have to adjust to it.

Exactly. And as I said, Russel did and Ryle didn't.

Ryle will bounce back. Playing tough competition and taking a couple on the chin during the regular season will make them better and help them come tourney time.
