Great game. Abby Sears showed why she was 1st team all state last season as a sophomore in the Jags home opener. She went the distance on the mound, plus hit a 2 run HR over the left field wall and followed that up with a 1 run triple into right field. Ashley Wampler also hit a deep shot off the wall. The Jags move to 2-0 before they head to Alabama next week.

The JV game was also a great game. The Generals jumped on top of the Jags 3-0, but NL battled back and pulled out the win 7-3. NLHS started 5 middle schoolers (4 in the 8th grade and 1 from the 7th grade) in the JV game.

The Lafayette fans were very nice people. I felt really bad for the parent in the Honda who had his/her windshield busted by a foul ball. I hope they made it back to Lexington okay.

Actually the Lady Jags play in Warren East this weekend before they hit Alabama.

I forgot about Saturday's game(s). I believe they are leaving straight from Warren East after they play for Alabama. This should be a growing experience for Weaver's young lady Jags. With only 1 senior on the roster, playing the level of competition they will be facing will pay HUGE dividends for them come tourney time. I like how he picked up right where Coach Durham left the program, ... in great shape! They have a lot of young talent coming up and a lot on the roster. Weaver will be playing with a full deck for quite some time! No wonder he has been smiling so much lately!

Sears makes North Laurel the best team in the 13th. When do they play South?

I am not sure, but you can bet, it will be the typical North vs South barnburner!
