Powell 78 Hazard 68

Powell is definately in the mix, but I would also think that this is an All A slump for Hazard as well. They'll need another game or two to get back on track before tournament play.

It's Feb., Hazard Won the 14th Region All A tournament and lost to a very good Bardstown team, why should they be in a slump after one loss. When you lose you need to put it behind you and keep on winning. You can't blame the loss on a "slump" and if it takes 1 or 2 games to get on track then i hope they don't lose any district games, cause theres no "getting back on track" at region, you lose, you're done. JMHO

It takes a lot out of you when you play three or four in a row with a big atmosphere. You get a big high and then a tough loss gets you down. I wasn't saying that Powell only beat them because of this. I think it played a role in it. I do think Powell has a very good team and was good enough to beat Hazard (and they did). It is just like a christmas tournament. It may take a game or two to get back on a normal schedule.

I see, I'm not really saying that at all either, Hazard is a terriffic team, it's just not good timing to be down, afterall they were on a row and winning in the all A. It's just no time to be down, not this late into the season.

bballer1 it always takes alot out of Hazard or any All "A" winner when they go to the All"A". It is a big difference telling 15 thru 18 year olds your playing in Richmond for a chance at a state title and just days later there back playing in the 14th region (Stanton, Hazard, Buckhorn, Campton and any other place).

Hazard has been to the all 'a' four of the last five years and always struggeled when they got back, even the 2004 All 'A' state champs never played the same after coming home.

Imo it helped the dawgs last year when they did not win the All "a" region because it made them more hungry to go to the sweet sixteen.

I think the 1998 dawgs and the 2002 Whiteburg teams are the only 2 teams to win both the All A and the 14th region.

Powell has a pretty good team but believe me that was by far one of the dawgs worst performnces of the year. Only game they played worst was the Dunbar game and the home game against PCC.

I understand that, but a loss is a loss. Both teams had many turnovers lastnight, and some say that it was a poorly officiated game. Neither of the teams played to their potential IMO. I've seen them both play many times this year and both played alright. Powell just stuck it out in the fourth quarter. Hicks had an outstanding game with 27 pts., as did Romans. Powell also ran the ball up and down the floor, which i don't think Hazard anticipated. They did although look a little tired, but that's the way it goes. IMO both teams are contenders, good luck to both the rest of the year.

Where is the 14th region tourny being played this year?
