A quick-moving clipper system looks to bring a chance of snow to Kentucky from Thursday night into Friday morning. Temperatures will start out in the upper 20s Thursday night, then climb into the mid-30s by Friday afternoon. This system will track southeast across the state, and for now it appears the impacts will be limited mainly to northern and central Kentucky. Snow accumulations, if any, look to remain on the light side, but some slick spots can’t be ruled out for the Friday morning commute.

 

 

On Thursday night, ahead of the approaching clipper system, temperatures will fall into the mid- to upper 20s. By Friday afternoon, readings should rebound into the mid-30s to low-40s.

The snow is expected to move into Kentucky from the northwest sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning. The exact timing is still uncertain, but this is my take for now.

At this point, accumulating snow looks most likely north and east of a line from Jefferson County to Harlan County. A sharp southern cutoff is expected with this system, so areas farther south may see little to no accumulation.

Model guidance is still split. The Euro brings the snow in earlier Thursday evening, while other models hold it off until later. I should have a clearer read on the timing later today.

There's a possibility of that happening. 

We had some thundersleet here in Richmond a little while ago. 

This is probably my final call on possible snow accumulations. There will be a conference call with the National Weather Service Louisville office at 4 p.m. EST.
