Weather Test Thread

Featured Replies

I'm just testing some new tools I've found from my studies on severe weather so far this summer. I'm testing the screen recording to make sure it will work on BGP. These are from the Storm Prediction Center's HREF Ensemble Viewer. It is an ensemble collection of several CAM models. Ones I've used in the past, I.e., the HRRR and NAM 3k. It averages the runs and removes the outlier runs. It is used by the Storm Prediction Center to forecast severe weather up to 48 hours in advance. If all goes well, I will be able to post the Storm Prediction Center's probability of severe wind, hail, and tornado percentages and categorical maps in motion. These are lesser-known tools produced by the STP.

In this test run I'm showing the categorical map. Then the corresponding map in motion showing the fixed-layer significant tornado parameter. There are many more things I can use to enhance my forecasts. This includes winter weather as well.
