Lloyd Memorial 36 Aiken (OH) 22

Final per the update thread.  How about those Juggs!

Great job Juggs!

If there is someone who watched this whole game on film or live in person that can honestly say that Aiken did not leave atleast 4 touchdowns off the board because their receivers could not track a deep ball to save their life then I will come mow your grass, wash your car, walk your dog, clean your gutters and pat the baby for you. That was crazy.

This was a wierd game. I got to give Lloyd a C+ @DRKARK, which is down from there C++ last week. Felt like Lloyd could have easily won by 30 or lost by 14. Lloyd dominated all night in the trenches. Aiken came out immediately on the first play of the game testing Lloyd deep and missed on a homerun. Then they hit on a number of outside screen and stop passes that ended up resulting in an Aiken kid out running everyone down the sideline for a very long opening drive TD.  Aiken has some legit serious speed. I don't think there is anyone who Lloyd has or will play that is even close to being faster (unless CAL hops in the picture?).

Aiken did not score again until the play before half when they connected on roughly a 40 pass, that there's no way Lloyd should have given up, even though it was the best play made all night by either team. That made it 21-16 Lloyd at the half.  Aiken did not score again until about 20 seconds left in the game on a play where Lloyds #7 missed on a hit stick that should have been a game ending 15 yard sack. Instead Underwood made a play and scampered for about a 20 yard TD to make it 36-22. The game should have ended 36-8 without a doubt if Lloyd closes out the half and the game like their taking it seriously. Can't have lapses like those because eventually it will really cost them.

Aiken missed on wide open deeeep balls all night. Like wiiiiiide open ones. Aiken caught and made plays everytime the ball was put on their chest but they could not catch a ball over the shoulder at all. They could not run the ball vs Lloyd at all. Bad last play by #7 for Lloyd but he dominated that game with the help of his D line. He tracked a very good athete in Underwood all around the field all night long and Aiken could not do anything but throw the ball short and outside. Aiken wins that game if they connect on just a couple of the deep balls that were 100% catchable. Even though I said Lloyd should have won 36-8?????

Lloyd played great on offense. Did what they wanted to. First through the air and when Aiken adjusted Lloyd put them in the meat grinder. Aiken wasn't going to let Evans sit back and pick them apart through the air all night. Once Lloyd made some plays through the air Aiken put intense pressure on him and then Lloyd did the smart thing to protect Evans by resorting to running the ball down Aiken's throat. Aiken had no answer for it. Lloyds O line laid on Aiken's and Lloyds Tomlinson and Conrad ate up every yard they could. Lloyd also has a very nice TE in SR #88 Billy Lewis Jr. who is way underrated in KY. He stands a out 6'5 220 and can move. He had a great TD for about 50 yards. He kinda gets lost in the shuffle with all the guys they have had over the years but he is a good ball player.

Where Lloyd really took control of the game was with about 5 minutes left in the 3rd on special teams, the game 21-16. With Aiken looking to get the ball and take a lead Lloyd's punter #6 Curry booted a beautiful ball 49 yards where #4 M. Peterson made an outstanding play downing the ball at the 1 yard line. Lloyd forced a punt and got the ball back at about Aiken's 30. For the rest of the game it was all Tomlinson chewing up clock, yards and churning out TD's.

Very well coached game by Lloyd, and Aiken for that matter. Aiken came with a good game plan to hit Lloyd where it hurts but just couldn't convert enough of the plays. Lloyd stayed true to who they are and executed perfectly to never lose control of the game. That O line does have some stuff to sew up because defenses have got closer to Evan's than Lloyd's coaches would like. The secondary looked worse this week.

Just wanted to put this game into some context. CC should be a good one for Lloyd.

Very nice post. I was on the sidelines of that game and I know Aikens quarterback was overthrowing a lot, and I’m sure left points off the table. But a lot of times they didn’t hook up because Lloyd’s defense was getting pressure on that quarterback. That school definitely had some very skilled athletes for sure.

Couple over throws, yes. Some pressure, yes. But alot of balls that should have been caught for touchdowns. Aiken's plan was catch and release on pass plays and that's what they did on majority of the plays to offset Lloyds pass rush. If it wasn't a pass, it was catch and try to let Underwood make a play with his legs, which D. Peterson was not letting that happen, except the last play.

They are soooo close to getting an A on these test. Just a couple plays here and there that is shaving a few points off their grade. I get I have been critiquing them a little hard and that they are winning games convincingly even with my "C" grades. Can you imagine if/when they button a few things up that are correctable what they will be like?

Like making sure they keep their foot on their opponents back while there down and not underestimating the other teams grit and fight and not ending up on the other teams highlight reel. That's on the players, not the coaches. They got to hold themselves accountable mentally for what will help them reach their long term goals. I'm starting to get a feel for what's going on in the secondary just looking for the words to describe it.

36-22 and 36-8 doesn't seem like much of a difference win wise....but mentality wise it is a huge difference. Aiken walked out of there feeling like they were a couple plays off from winning that game. When realistically Aiken should have felt like they got off the Erlanger exit and got hit by a dump truck.
