Cardinals get revenge over the Warriors and earn the #2 seed in the 48th district tourney. Cards will play Somerset Christian in the opening round. Southwestern will match up with Mccreary Central. Thoughts? Predictions? Let’s  hear them.

My thoughts is any of the four could win it. May be a 4 seed make the region tournament and I could see them getting on a run in region. I think they have the most overall talent in the district but have struggled at times. Wayne has the best player in the district so that makes them a threat every night. Losing Bell is a big hit for them though. McCreary and SCS have both beat everyone in the district so are capable of it again. Crazy year in the 48th.

Any of the four could certainly win it. Are you picking the Warriors?

I thought them in the pre season so I’m going to stay with them I guess.

I originally picked Somerset Christian, but that was before I realized District was at Wayne this year. They have one of the best home court advantages in the 12th region. Their fans tend to be quite rowdy. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I was just playing around with some numbers last night while watching the Superbowl and wondering if the 48th has ever been this even across the board. The obvious stat is everyone went 3-3 in district play.

1. McCreary went LLLWWW so they are trending in the right direction. I'm not surprised with Wade Davis as their coach.  Higginbotham is averaging 23.3 points per game on 64.6% shooting. An efficient scorer like that is a nice luxury to have come tournament time.  McCreary scored 392 and gave up 407 in district play.

2. Wayne went LWLLWW. Wayne almost came back at Somerset Christian after being down almost 20 in the 4th and the game at McCreary went into overtime. Will a third guy step up to consistently help Phillips and Edwards? Wayne scored 409 and gave up 386 in district play.

3. Somerset Christian went LWWLWL. The days of getting an easy W against SCS are over I think. They have some athletes and Baker is shooting 50% from 3 so they are very capable. They've also seen the ball go in the basket more than any team in the region scoring 1764 points so far. Somerset Christian scored 399 and gave up 397 in district play.

4. Southwestern went WWWLLL. I'm not sure what's going on with Southwestern. To me, they pass the eye test better than anyone. When Dumphord transferred I thought this put them head and shoulders above anyone in the 48th.  I think Dunbar is a good coach and I could see them making a crazy run through the district and deep into the region. I think the pieces are there. Southwestern scored 378 and gave up 364 in district play.

Agree on Southwestern. Definitely pass the eye test and have 3 extremely talented players. . I thought they would run away with it pre season. I knew replacing Hudson would be the key and Stevenson has played well in that spot. Dumphord was out a few games but they have been up and down all season. Dunbar is a good coach and I think they could be dangerous in region too if they can get there.
