First Team All-Watchlist
Cortez Stone (Central, RB)
The scene was feast for the football mind…. Two of the state's premier players jockeying for position in the race for Mr. Football, set against the backdrop of Louisville's middleweight kings vying for a #1 ranking.

Cortez Stone seized the opportunity like no one since Quisenberry against St. Ed's, getting the better of CAL and Connor Hodge at seemingly every turn. He beat Hodge to the punch at his own game, lighting the fuse with a halfback pass for a 43 yard touchdown, the night's first score and Stone's second touchdown pass of the season.

His feet followed suit, accounting for 145 yards and three first half touchdowns, all part of a barrage that floored the two-time reigning champions. It was a flurry from which they would not recover.

Stone takes a big step forward in Mr. Football contention and Central grabs the top spot in the 3A polls, a place they used to call home.

Season to date: 114 carries for 1,233 yards and 19 TDs | 2 passing TDs

Bryce Button (South Warren, QB)
The tug of war for Bowling Green's soul has taken several twists and turns since the inception of ? vs. ⚫️. The latest tug swayed momentum to the black, with Button at the forefront, conducting all advancements of the Spartan army.

He accounted for all four South Warren scores, including a pair of fourth quarter touchdown passes to rally his side from a two score deficit.

This performance was not without a few warts; balls were forced into tight windows and intercepted, three times to be exact. He had as many picks as touchdown passes, but threw for 300+ yards and made all the right throws in crunch time.

Like Stone, Button outdueled a fellow Mr. Football candidate - Deuce Bailey had a couple of picks and several misfires -and knocked a top ranked team from its perch.

Season to date: 120/178 for 1,715 yards and 24 TDs with 8 INTs | 6 rushing TDs

Third Team All-Watchlist
Jack James (Paducah Tilghman, QB)
James orchestrated another offensive masterpiece with 334 yards passing and 6 touchdowns against Warren East.

He currently ranks #1 in the state for touchdown tosses and #2 in yardage.
He's on a tear of 23 touchdown passes against zero picks over the last five games.

The records are not up to date, but James is inching his way into the national Top 25 for career touchdown passes.

Season to date: 194/286 for 2,498 yards and 34 TDs with 4 INTs | 4 rushing TDs

Honorable Mention
Luke Pennington (Sayre, QB)
Pennington was a perfect 20/20 for 281 yards and 5 touchdowns against Frankfort. His 100% completion rate and 5/0 touchdown to interception ratio equals Clay Hayden's feat from a few weeks ago. He's now flirting with the state's single season record for completion percentage at 78.5%.
Season to date: 110/140 for 1,630 yards and 32 TDs with 0 INTs | 3 rushing TDs
Highlights: Mid-season

Zack McCoart (Johnson Central, RB)
It's fair to say that after missing his junior season, McCoart has hit his stride as one of JC's great running backs. Two weeks after going for 400+ against Corbin, he ripped Greenup County for 325 and 5 TDs on just 11 carries.

Season to date: 158 carries for 1,952 yards and 26 TDs

Clay Hayden (Beechwood, QB)
District play is the gift that keeps on giving for Hayden's stat line. He threw for nearly 200 yards and five touchdowns on 8/9 passing against Carroll County.
Season to date: 109/162 for 1,821 yards with 33 TDs and 3 INTs

Brady Atwell (Owensboro Catholic, QB)
Like Hayden, Atwell is making the most of an overmatched district slate, throwing for 250 yards and accounting for four total touchdowns against Edmonson County.
Season To Date: 128/194 for 1,970 yards and 27 TDs with 4 INTs | 307 rushing yards and 10 TDs

Kade Elam (Corbin, QB)
Elam continued Corbin's ownership of Whitley County with 255 passing yards and 4 touchdowns on 8/9 attempts.
Season to date: 129/171 for 2,128 yards and 23 TDs with 2 INTs | 266 rushing yards and 9 TDs

Jeremiah Jones (Murray, ATH)
No looking ahead for Jones, as he caught five balls for 109 yards and a touchdown, plus a couple of sacks against Caldwell County. Full attention now shifts to Mayfield.
Season to date: 49 receptions for 772 yards and 7 TDs | 2 rushing TDs | 91 tackles | 14 TFL | 9 sacks | 1 INT
Highlights: vs. Caldwell County

His numbers are eye catching, but stats alone won't cut it. The CovCath game pretty much killed any momentum he needed to garner attention in here. And he plays the wrong position this year to be making waves because the senior class of quarterbacks is stacked.

CovCath game was a mess from the get go. But leads the state. Plays a top notch defense this Friday!
