Here is your 8th Region rankings and review. Give me grace as I am not super familiar with the 8th region, but I will do my best to give you a solid ranking and then you guys can argue in the comments. But nevertheless, here we go. 

1. North Oldham (11-2).
The Mustangs went 3-0 on the week and went home as the champs of the Mason County Invitational Tournament. They did so with a 34 point win over Scott, 12 point win over Walton-Verona, and a 23 point win over Campbell County. North Oldham is led on the year by Grant Neal (19 and 5) and Jack Fischer (14 and 8). The Mustangs will be back in action Tuesday at home against Holy Cross (Louisville). 

2. Woodford County (9-2)
The Yellow Jackets took part in the White, Greer, & Maggard Holiday Classic this past week and went 2-1 on the week. They beat Harrison County by 18 and Cooper by 2, but then got throttled by Lex Cath by 26. Most see Lex Cath as one of the top teams in the state so it’s nothing to get too caught up in, but it’s obviously a game they need to bounce back from. Woodford has four players averaging double digits so far on the year. They’ll be back in action Friday as they take on Spencer County at home in a district matchup. 

3. Oldham County (9-4).
The Colonels are now winners of 5 straight and also won the City of Middletown Holiday Classic. They beat Murray by 9, Hoptown by 8, and Eastern by 8. Oldham County was led by Max Green in the win against Eastern as he went for 29 and 10. The Colonels play Ballard at home Thursday night, then follow that up the next night with Sayre at home. 

4. Walton Verona (10-4)
The Bearcats went 2-1 on the week in the Mason County Invitational with an 11 point win over Augusta, a 12 point loss to North Oldham, then a nice 2 point win over tournament host Mason County. The Bearcats are led in scoring on the year by Aaron Gutman (21.8), Zach Smith (15.9), and Julian Dixon (12.2). Walton Verona opens up this week with 8th Region All A with a game against Trimble County. 

5. Spencer County (6-7)
Spencer went 2-1 on the week down at Daytona Beach FL with wins over Burrell PA and Steinbrenner FL, but a 19 point loss to CAL. The Bears have shown they can play with anyone with their win over Male, but it seems like they need to show some sort of consistency. They can do so this week with a game Wednesday against Henry County and then a big district game Friday night at Woodford. 

6. Williamstown (9-1)
The Demons are winners of 9 straight and have put together a nice start to the season. They went 2-0 on the week with wins over Southwestern and Lynn Camp. Knowing what I know about the 12th and the 13th, I would probably say that time will tell on the Demons as their schedule starts to pick up. This week they play Thursday in the 8th Region All A Classic against TBA. 

7. Simon Kenton (5-8)
I’m going to put Simon Kenton here based off my eye test from watching them online and Shelby and Anderson in person. It seems like SK opened the year up with some stiff competition, but has since settled in. They went 2-1 on the week with wins over Butler and Jeffersontown, but lost in the semi’s of the Ashland Invitational against Danville Christian Academy by 6. The pioneers are back in action on Friday as they travel to Bryan Station. 

8. Shelby County (7-5).
The Rockets went 1-2 on the week in the Mercer County Holiday Classic. I got the chance to watch them and was impressed with Dillon Ritchey and Michael Jones. Shelby lost to Scott Co by 7, Mercer Co by 12, but rebounded with a 8 point win over West Jess. Shelby is back in action on Tuesday against South Oldham, Friday against Anderson Co at home, then wrap the week up on Saturday with Carroll County at home. 

9. Gallatin County (8-4)
The Wildcats went 2-1 on the week in the Smoky Mountain Christmas Classic. They opened up tournament play with a 37 point win over Claiborne TN, then had a setback against Monroe Co by 3, before wrapping up with a 10 point win over Trion GA. Gallatin will be back in action this week on Tuesday in the 8th Region All A Classic as they take on Cornerstone Christian. 

10. Anderson County (9-4)
The Bearcats went 3-0 on the week with a 26 point win over Bellevue, a 13 point win over Nicholas Co, and a 14 point win over Beechwood. They’re now winners of four straight and are being led on the year by Carson Sutherland (15.8 & 3.8). Anderson plays Garrard Co on the road Tuesday and Shelby Co on the road Friday.
