Commercial Bank Hoops Showcase 1/20/07

Recommended Posts

The 3rd Annual Commercial Bank Hoops Showcase will be this upcoming Saturday, January 20th at Morgan County High School in West Liberty.

There will be three games played that day and what should be some very interesting match-ups.

Game 1

COVINGTON SCOTT EAGLES VS. SOUTH FLOYD RAIDERS (4:30 Tip Off)

This game features two teams that should let the "3" point shot fly. The Raiders have made 16 three pointers in a game earlier this year vs. Johnson Central. Scott has played very well and are well coached ball club by Brad Carr. The Eagles look to shoot the basketball from deep just like South Floyd. Should be a very entertaining game. South Floyd's Ethan Johnson is considered one of the top guards in the 15th region.

Game 2

RUSSELL RED DEVILS VS. LEE COUNTY BOBCATS (6:15 Tip Off Approx.)

The 16th regions #1 team is lead by D-I and Evansville signee Jonathan Vanhoose. The Red Devils have plenty of other athletic players like Austin Robins, Austin Blair, and jumping Jack Scott Gill. Lee County, from the 14th region will play a physcial and be extremely energetic. They have outstanding shooters and strong post play from Kenny Brandenburg, I believe is his name. Caleb Fetters and the Liesengang twins have helped carve out a well rounded basketball program. Should be another top notch game.

Game 3

MORGAN COUNTY COUGARS VS. KNOTT COUNTY CENTRAL PATRIOTS (7:45 Tip Off Approx)

The host Cougars lost 4 starters off of last years 22-4 team that was only 12 points away from being undefeated. This year the Cougars are relatively young in experience. Sophomore Cameron Dunn runs the point and can score, 6'4" Katlin Haney is gaining some attention by some colleges and the Cougars will always play a physical man to man defense. The Patriots of Knott County Central have some excellent guard play and are coached by former Patriot standout Justin Amburgey. The Patriots are coming off an impressive 14th region win vs. Powell County recently.

People looking for hoops entertainment and seeing quality individual talent should venture to Morgan County on Saturday.

Correct GoldSunrise,

Danny Joe Wright has done an outstanding job at Lee County. When he took over, they were really struggling, now he has them in the upper teir of teams in the 14th region each year. His teams play hard, usually shoot it well, and are strong. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Bobcats hang up some hardware this season.
