Its a little early to call but with 3 of the top 5 9th region teams in the 35th, what 2 teams go to regionals? Right now Holmes is struggling, Holy cross just beat a very good Boone Co. team and Covington Catholic has been good this season with wins over very solid opponents.

Holmes and CovCath should come out of this but Holy Cross will be a tough out whoever gets them in the districts. Holmes is starting to scare me again this year. Way too much one on one and no set plays at all. I know we heard alot about the teams chemistry this year but this many losses this early in the season has to take some sort of toll on young kids mentally.

Covcath is the favorite right now, but IMO once Holmes gets back to full strength they will be the other favorite. The key for Holmes is whether or not they'll get Jefferson back in time for both the Covcath and Holy Cross district games.

 

Holmes has already proven they can play with Covcath without Jefferson, only losing by 1 in OT and on a shot with 5 seconds to go.

 

I'd like to see HC play a little more before I give my assessment on them because I was already wrong about them once.
